Eric Donnenfeld, MD

Eric D. Donnenfeld, MD, is an internationally recognized expert and pioneer in refractive, cornea and cataract surgery and one of the leading refractive and cataract surgeons in the United States. Dr. Donnenfeld was the 2013-2014 President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is on the Executive Boards of ASCRS and ACOS and is a member of the Refractive Committee of ASCRS and Cornea section of Ocular Surgery News. He has authored more than 190 papers on cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery, 500 scientific articles, and 40 books and book chapters on a range of subjects pertaining to corneal transplants, cataract care and laser vision correction. Dr. Donnenfeld is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has received its Honor Award, Senior Honor Award, Life Achievement Honor Award and Secretariat Award.


Steven Lichtenstein, MD

Dr. Lichtenstein is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at both Peoria and Chicago. Dr. Lichtenstein has been named Medical Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Dr. Lichtenstein received his M.D. degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and his residency in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Yale University and his fellowship training in the Department of Ophthalmology, Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles mostly on various aspects of pediatric ocular infections.


Ivan Mac, MD

Dr. Mac completed his medical training at Wake Forest University where he earned a dual MD/MBA degree. He went on to complete an ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville and upon completing the residency, founded Metrolina Eye Associates. He has medical appointments at CMC-Union, Anson Community Hospital, and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. Dr. Mac is the author of numerous papers in the field of Ophthalmology and has lectured on the local and national level. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been named one of the nation’s top cataract and refractive surgeons according to the Consumers Research Council of America.


Steven Wilmarth, MD

Dr. Wilmarth attended University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified, specializing in cataract surgery and laser vision correction.
Dr. Wilmarth is a Founding Member and Chairman of the Board of Medical Vision Technology, the largest private ophthalmic group practice in Northern California. He is a Founding Member of Sutter Sierra Surgery Center in Roseville, CA and serves on the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Wilmarth is a Founding Member of Horizon Vision Centers, the largest provider of laser vision services in Northern California with six centers in the San Francisco Bay area and the Greater Sacrament area. He is the Medical Director of the Horizon Vision Center in Roseville, CA.


John Sheppard, MD

Dr. Sheppard is a board-certified and fellowship-trained corneal eye surgeon, and he specializes in such areas as corneal transplantation, dry eye syndrome, uveitis, cataract surgery, glaucoma, and premium lens implants. His commitment to performing the highest quality of eye care solutions has led to Dr. Sheppard receiving the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor Award, and he has also been named one of The Best Doctors in America since 2002. Dr. Sheppard is actively involved in numerous clinical trials and has participated as principal investigator in over 110 clinical research trials sponsored by many major pharmaceutical companies and for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In addition, Dr. Sheppard has served on the medical advisory board for over 41 pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He has authored over 110 peer review abstracts, journal articles, and chapters.


Pedram Hamrah, MD

Dr. Pedram Hamrah is a clinician/scientist who has focused his research activities on antigen presenting cells. Dr. Hamrah trained in Ocular and Transplantation Immunology at Schepens Eye Research Institute at Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Hamrah currently serves as the Section Editor for Clinical Science and Clinical Practice of the journal The Ocular Surface, Cornea Section Editor of the journal Eye, Assistant Editor of the journal Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, and Ophthalmology Associate Editor for BMC Ophthalmology. He serves on numerous additional editorial boards and is a peer reviewer for over 45 ophthalmology, immunology and transplantation journals. He is an Instructor at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and recently served as Chair of the ARVO Members-in-Training Committee.


Henry Perry, MD

Henry Perry, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist who is recognized as one of the leading corneal and refractive surgeons in the United States. He is also internationally renowned and lectures throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized expert in diseases and surgery of the cornea and corneal pathology. He has also written over 190 peer-reviewed papers and numerous chapters on corneal and refractive surgery. He is the winner of the Senior Honor Award and Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Most recently, Dr. Perry was awarded the Life Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his contributions to ophthalmology. Dr. Perry has won several Best Doctor Awards and received the 2016 Premier Surgeon 300 designation given to the top 300 surgeons by Ocular Surgery News.


Amr Kouchouk, MD

Dr. Kouchouk graduated “magna cum laude” with a degree in Economics. He went on to medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine - MCV (Richmond, VA), and completed his internship at Christiana Care Hospital (Newark, DE). He completed his ophthalmology residency at George Washington University (Washington, DC). He then went on to complete an elective 1-year Cornea/Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA) with Dr. Deepinder Dhaliwal, MD. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS). In addition to providing excellent surgical care - Dr. Kouchouk is an expert at treating dry eye disease and blepharitis. He has established a Dry Eye Center of Excellence, where he provides the latest dry eye treatments available. He has published multiple manuscripts in peer-reviewed medical journals and has given podium talks of his research at national meetings.


Preeya Gupta, MD

Preeya Gupta, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, with expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of cornea and anterior segment diseases. She specializes in advanced corneal transplantation and cataract surgery techniques (DSEK, astigmatism and presbyopia correcting intraocular lens implants), and the management of ocular surface diseases such as dry eyes and blepharitis. Dr. Gupta has several published articles and is a co-author of multiple textbook chapters. Dr. Gupta is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and International Society of Refractive Surgery.


Wendy Lee, MD

Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She attended medical school at Tulane Medical School, completed her fellowship in Ophthalmology at UMHC – Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lee specializes in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Ophthalmic Surgery and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Her research interests include Aesthetic Applications in Oculoplastic Surgery, Eyelid reconstruction and ocular imaging.


Alice Epitropoulos, MD

Dr. Epitropoulos serves as a clinical assistant professor at Ohio State University, in addition to operating a private practice. Dr. Epitropoulos received her bachelor and medical degrees from Ohio State University. She completed her internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital and returned to Ohio State University for her residency in ophthalmology where she served as Chief Resident. She maintains memberships, fellowships, and/or diplomatic status with the following groups and associations: National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow American College of Surgeons (FACS), International Society of Refractive Surgeons, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Ohio Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Epitropoulos has always been actively involved in organized medicine; she has served on the legislative task force committee to the Ohio State Medical Association and was also secretary treasurer of the Columbus Medical Association. She participates in Access Health Columbus for the uninsured and serves as a medical reviewer for a national ombudsman program. Dr. Epitropoulos currently serves as a medical correspondent on the NBC Channel 4 Health Team and is one of the team ophthalmologists for the Columbus Blue Jackets.


Jennifer Loh, MD

Jennifer Loh, MD is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist practicing in the south Miami area. Her focus and passion is in cataract surgery and refractive cataract surgery, uses premium technology, including femtosecond laser and advanced intraocular lenses, to help patients obtain the best vision possible. She was recently honored by being named as a Premier Surgeon Top 300 Innovators in Refractive Cataract Surgery. Dr. Loh also focuses on the management of dry eye disease, pterygium, glaucoma and comprehensive eye care. William Faulkner, MD

Dr. Faulkner, a cornea specialist, is one of the original founding members of Cincinnati Eye Institute. He is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and University of Louisville School of Medicine. Post graduate training included Internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (Stanford), Residency at the University of Oklahoma, and Fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard, Cornea and External Disease). Dr. Faulkner is Director of the Urgent Clinic at CEI and The Dry Eye Center at Cincinnati Eye Institute. He is past president of the Cincinnati Society of Ophthalmology, Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UC and a volunteer faculty member for the Bethesda Hospital residency Program. He is a diplomat at the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves on the Board of Directors of Cincinnati Eye Bank.


Victor Perez, MD

Dr. Perez is an established clinician-scientist investigator in the field of ocular immunology and ocular surface diseases and will be the director of Duke Eye Center's newly launched Ocular Immunology Center. He is Director of the Ocular Surface Program at Duke Eye Center, evaluating and treating patients with ocular inflammatory diseases and conditions of the anterior segment.


Robert Abel Jr., MD

Dr. Abel earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in 1969, completed his ophthalmology residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital and was a Cornea Fellow at the University of Florida. A board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Abel is on the staff of the Christiana Care Health System. He is a former Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University. He founded and has been Medical Director of the Medical Eye Bank of Delaware since 1981. Dr. Abel has done active research on corneal transplants, corneal pathology, contact lenses and drugs as they relate to the eye. He holds two patents on artificial corneas and has received the AAO Honor Award and the Senior Honor Award.
